Healing Lights of Love:
Lara's House is a model residential home for women with special needs located on 4.5 acres of beautiful desert land in east Mesa, Arizona. Beacon Family Services, a State of Arizona DDD approved agency, provides all staffing and care for Lara's House residents.
Lara’s House is a home of loving care and compassionate support, helping those who reside there to live life to their fullest capacity. The peaceful, natural and healthy surroundings provide an enriching environment for all involved: the six women who live there, the staff and volunteers who serve them, their families and the community. It is our vision that Lara's House be a model of exemplary care and services that inspires and educates all who are touched by it, offering the highest quality amenities, services and benefits. Lara's House is the private home of the residents, however they may use Arizona DDD respite, attendant care or habilitation hours for services provided.

Lara's House was the vision of the parents of Lara Nelson, a young woman with multiple disabilities. It was created as a response to her need for stable, supportive long-term living and learning arrangements, and their desire to provide that. As professional educators and school administrators, as well as loving, concerned parents, Lara's parents were uniquely qualified to make this vision a reality, for Lara and others who share that need. Lara and one other friend moved into Lara's House in January of 2010, and over the years 4 other women joined them. At this time there are not openings for new residents.
Lara's House provides a beautiful, healthy, loving, and stimulating home for the women who live there. Caregivers and staff are carefully screened, highly trained and well compensated. Families are welcome to participate in activities and decision making as they desire. Because it is a private cooperative arrangement between the families participating, each person will receive care and services tailored to their particular physical, emotional, intellectual and vocational needs without becoming lost in a system of bureaucratic details.
